The Fifth Biennial Conference of Children's Literature in English, Education, and Library Science

Sponsored by the Children's and Adolescent Literature Community and the Department of English.

Date: Saturday, April 2, 2016

Time: 9:00am-2:30pm

Location: Alumni Center, K-State.

Cost: Free with registration; registrants can attend all or just part of the conference. Students in the College of Education can receive professional development credit for attending its events. Registration available here.

11:00-11:50am - Plenary Lecture

Author Kristin Cashore will speak on "Breaking Characters and Healing Them Again: The Fiction Writer's Perspective on Working with Trauma."

Kristin Cashore is the author of New York Times bestsellers Graceling, Fire, and most recently, Bitterblue, all of which have been named ALA Best Books for Young Adults. Graceling is the winner of the 2009 Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Children's Literature, and Fire is the winner of the Amelia Elizabeth Walden Award. A book-signing will follow the talk (12:00-12:15pm), courtesy of Claflin Books.
