ChALC Conference on Childrenís Literature

April 5, 2008

In Fall 2006, the English Department at Kansas State University added a new track to the Masterís program: childrenís literature. That same semester, English graduate students founded an organization to foster communication and interest in childrenís literature both inside and outside of the English Department. The organization, Childrenís and Adolescent Literature Community (ChALC), will host its first interdisciplinary conference on Saturday, April 5, 2008.

The conference will include speakers whose backgrounds are in education, library science, and English. The keynote speaker will be author/illustrator/artist Stephen Johnson.

ChALC invites proposals for papers that discuss childrenís literature from a theoretical or literary standpoint. No other requirements pose limitations on paper topics. We encourage both undergraduate and graduate students of English (from all tracks or areas of concentration) to submit abstracts for conference presentation.

Please send abstracts of approximately 300-500 words in length to by March 10.
