Janet Currie is the Henry Putnam Professor of Economics and Public Affairs and director of Princeton's Center for Health and Wellbeing. - 26th Annual OPUS Band Competition. 5:30 to 11 p.m., Bosco Plaza, K-State Student Union. OPUS enables amateur, unsigned bands to perform in front of a college audience and gain exposure. Why have India's tigers declined so drastically? What exactly are the problems facing their conservation? And are there any solutions to the crisis? - Latin American Film Series: Elite Squad (Tropa de Elite). 7 p.m., Forum Hall, K-State Student Union. The film is presented in Portuguese with English subtitles. Free and open to the public.
- Public Forum: Economic Security 2012: Taking Charge of Our Future. 7:30 p.m., Auditorium, ECM. How can we talk about our future economic security during this national election season? The National Issues Forum process guides participants through discussion of three strategies for achieving economic security and constructing a mutually acceptable solution. The major party platforms will be partners in the discussion.

Reid is a manager and scientist at ATCC, a private, nonprofit biological resource center and research organization. The lecture is in association with the university's 2012 common book, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.

- Presentation: Leadership: Managing Reputation Risk in Organizations by Steven Benz. 4 to 5 p.m., Town Hall Room, Leadership Studies Building. Benz is the President and CEO of the Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC), and will explore and discuss how leaders of organizations need to shift their focus to instilling consistent behavior revolving around your organization's reputation. There will be a Q&A during the presentation, and refreshments are provided. Free and open to the public.
- Lecture: Ethnic Studies Banned in Arizona: An Effective Pedagogy and Curriculum for Latina/o Students by Sean Arce. 7 p.m., Town Hall Room, Leadership Studies Building. Arce's lecture will discuss the recent legislation passed in Arizona that has effectively eliminated the Mexican American Studies program in the Tuscon Unified School Districts. The program had received national praise and honor for its effectiveness in retaining and graduating Latino students, preparing them for college, critically engaging them in education and learning, and successfully encouraging involvement in the community. Free and open to the public.
