Mock Trial Club Public Trial. 9 a.m. to noon, Courthouse 202 of the Riley County Courthouse, 100 Courthouse Plaza. Expect no objections to the motion from the Kansas State University Mock Trial Club to hold its first mock trial before a public audience. The case will center on a young woman's death by a friend who was driving drunk. The woman also happens to be the daughter of a well-known prosecutor. Free and open to the public. Lecture: The Philosophy of Design: The Structural Engineer's Role in Creating New Architecture by William F. Baker. 4:30 p.m., Forum Hall, Leadership Studies Building. Throughout Baker's distinguished career, he has dedicated himself to structural innovation. His best-known contribution has been to develop the "buttressed core" structural system for the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the world's tallest manmade structure. Free and open to the public.

Cats at the Capital: Graduate Students to Present Research That Benefits State. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Docking State Office Building Auditorium in Topeka, KS. Studies that range from the shelf life of meats to improving unpaved roads with plant material are among the research topics that will be presented by Kansas State University graduate students at the Capitol Graduate Research Summit. Mid-America Medieval Association Conference: Encountering the Other. 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., K-State Student Union. Kansas State will host the Mid-America Medieval Association's 36th annual conference. Presenters from the region, the nation, and abroad will deliver papers on the conference theme.
