Lecture: Manu Chandaria. 11 a.m., Forum Hall, K-State Student Union. Chandaria is the chairman and chief executive officer of the Comcraft Group of Companies in Kenya, and is the Kansas State University International Entrepreneur of the Year. Free and open to the public. This lecture counts for 1 hour of Professional Advantage Program credit. Part of the College of Business Administration's Distinguished Lecture Series sponsored by Commerce Bank and the William T. Kemper Foundation.
Colloquium: A Microdomain Model of Electrical Activity in Cardiac Tissue by Joyce Lin. 2:30 p.m., 122, Cardwell Hall. Lin is a professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Utah. She will introduce the mechanisms behind cardiac conduction and present and discuss results from a new model for the electrical activity in cardiac cells. Free and open to the public. Lecture: NSF Merit Review Process: A Program Director's Perspective by Dr. Zhijian Pei. 3:30 p.m., Big 12 Room, K-State Student Union. Dr. Pei, professor of industrial and manufacturing systems engineering at Kansas State University, earned the Commerce Bank Distinguished Graduate Faculty Award for the 2011-2012 academic year. It recognizes outstanding research and advising of graduate students. He is an international authority on advanced manufacturing processes and will speak about the merit review process of research proposals. Free and open to the public.
