Arce's lecture will discuss the recent legislation passed in Arizona that has effectively eliminated the Mexican American Studies program in the Tuscon Unified School Districts. The program had received national praise and honor for its effectiveness in retaining and graduating Latino students, preparing them for college, critically engaging them in education and learning, and successfully encouraging involvement in the community. - 7th Annual Great Plains Radio History Symposium. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Campus Holiday Inn. This year's Symposium will present two morning plenary sessions relating the golden days of radio programming: the era of baseball re-creations, as narrated by longtime sportscaster Tom Hedrick, and a special focus on the career of veteran announcer and programmer Bill Miller, whose on-air career spans six decades. Registration begins at 8 a.m., or preregistration is available online. Cost to attend is $15 (students admitted free).

- Speaker: Tony Diaz. 3:30 to 5 p.m., Hemisphere Room, Hale Library. Tony Diaz "El Librotraficante" is a novelist and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. He is also an entrepreneur who brings together contemporary Latino arts, culture, and business in ways that have transformed Houston, Texas, and have now blossomed into the Librotraficante Movement.

- Lecture: An Inquiring Mind in Search of Phun from Fysics by Bob Woodruff 4:30 p.m., Town Hall, Leadership Studies. The lecture is part of the Ernest Fox Nichols Lecture Series. The lecture will not be of a technical level and is geared toward the general public. Woodruff is an Associate of the Center for Astrophysics and Space Astronomy at the University of Colorado in Boulder and recently retired Technical Fellow in the position of Chief Scientist for Optical Systems at Lockheed Martin.

- Lecture: Bethe Ansaetze For Open Spin Chains With Non-Diagonal Boundaries by Eric Ragoucy. 2:30 p.m., 122, Cardwell Hall. Ragoucy will introduce two generalizations of the Bethe ansatz that allows to treat the case of open spin chains with non-diagonal boundary matrices. The first one is a generalization of the original coordinate Bethe ansatz, and the second one a generalization of the Matrix anstaz, used in statistical physics. Free and open to the public.

By examining early Modern French pastoral literature and painting, Cro's presentation seeks to explore the ways in which both writers and painters undertook reciprocal "translations," from literature into visual art and from visual art into literature. Gardner is well known for his work to popularize mathematics. This event will include many engaging games, puzzles and activities. Children are especially encouraged to come. - Chemistry Magic Shows. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Manhattan Town Center. Chemistry Magic Shows will be presented by Alpha Chi Sigma, the professional chemistry fraternity, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Kids also will have the opportunity to learn chemistry through hands-on experiments. These include learning how to make slime, paper chromatography, producing a gas from vinegar and baking soda, sticking a needle through a balloon without popping it and getting chemistry tattoos. Chemists will supervise all activities with safety and learning as the top priorities. Free and open to the public.

- Information Session: Teach for America. 7 p.m., Little Theatre, K-State Student Union. The information session will feature Teach For America alumni and "Waiting for Superman," a film that takes an inspiring look at the public education system in the United States. This will be a great opportunity to ask any questions and learn more about the organization.

This film records two years in the lives of laid-off workers, business leaders, and elected officials trying to reinvent themselves and their Midwestern town amid the closure of the GM plant and America's worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Free and open to the public. A discussion follows the film screening.

He will be discussing the passion and collaboration necessary among architecture, construction and business to create a successful, finished project. Free and open to the public.
