This annual event is a way to continue Martin Luther King Junior's ideals of civic service and actively making a difference in your local community. Please consider serving with us on this Day of Service. Volunteering check-in begins at 9 a.m. in the Manhattan Town Center Mall. Rooted in a deeply held commitment to create music out of the rich textures of African-American traditions, Sweet Honey In The Rock possesses a stunning vocal prowess that captures the complex sounds of blues, spirituals, traditional gospel hymns, rap, reggae, African chants, hip-hop, ancient lullabies and jazz improvisation. - Exhibit: Reflections of the World's Largest Refugee Camp: Dedaab, Kenya. February 18 through March 3, 2013, 2nd Floor Concourse, K-State Student Union. Fifty miles from the Somalia/Kenya border is the largest refugee camp in the world currently holding 500,000 refugees. Writer and photographer Rick McNary captures the images and tells the story of the horror and the hope of the international conundrum of the refugee crisis in the Horn of Africa. This exhibit gives voice to the issues and strategies of humanitarian agencies that serve to mitigate the crisis. Free and open to the public.
