Performance Series: The Intergalactic Nemesis. 7:30 p.m., McCain Auditorium. Inspired by "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Star Wars" and the pulp serials of the 1930s, "The Intergalactic Nemesis" is a spectacle unlike any other for the kid in everyone. Ticket information or call 532-6428.

Exhibit: Inadvertent Arson: Paintings and Drawings by Patrick Duegaw. October 5, 2012 through January 13, 2013 Beach Museum of Art. Patrick Duegaw, K-State alumnus and founding member of Wichita's Fisch Haus artist cooperative, presents the latest installment of his ongoing "Painted Theater Project." Conceived as a theatrical performance, Duegaw's "Inadvertent Arson" incorporates painted portraits, props, and sets as surrogates for living actors, three-dimensional objects, and a stage. Action is implied instead of performed, and a dialogue appears in the form of artist-generated text that accompanies each portrait.

Conceived as a theatrical performance, Duegaw's "Inadvertent Arson" incorporates painted portraits, props, and sets as surrogates for living actors, three-dimensional objects, and a stage. Lecture: An Inquiring Mind in Search of Phun from Fysics by Bob Woodruff 4:30 p.m., Town Hall, Leadership Studies. The lecture is part of the Ernest Fox Nichols Lecture Series. Lecture: Bethe Ansaetze For Open Spin Chains With Non-Diagonal Boundaries by Eric Ragoucy. 2:30 p.m., 122, Cardwell Hall. Ragoucy will introduce two generalizations of the Bethe ansatz that allows to treat the case of open spin chains with non-diagonal boundary matrices. Chemistry Magic Shows. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Manhattan Town Center. Chemistry Magic Shows will be presented by Alpha Chi Sigma, the professional chemistry fraternity, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Kids also will have the opportunity to learn chemistry through hands-on experiments. These include learning how to make slime, paper chromatography, producing a gas from vinegar and baking soda, sticking a needle through a balloon without popping it and getting chemistry tattoos. Chemists will supervise all activities with safety and learning as the top priorities. Free and open to the public. Part of National Chemistry Week sponsored by the Department of Chemistry and the American Chemical Society.

Exhibition: Konza: Sculpture by John Powers. July 9, 2012 through May 31, 2013, Beach Museum of Art. Konza is a large kinetic sculpture inspired by the natural beauty and movement of the nearby Konza prairie, and is the newest addition to the Beach Museum of Art's permanent collection. Exhibit: Inadvertent Arson: Paintings and Drawings by Patrick Duegaw. October 5, 2012 through January 13, 2013 Beach Museum of Art. Patrick Duegaw, K-State alumnus and founding member of Wichita's Fisch Haus artist cooperative, presents the latest installment of his ongoing "Painted Theater Project." Conceived as a theatrical performance, Duegaw's "Inadvertent Arson" incorporates painted portraits, props, and sets as surrogates for living actors, three-dimensional objects, and a stage. Action is implied instead of performed, and a dialogue appears in the form of artist-generated text that accompanies each portrait.
Astronomy Night. 6:30 to 8 p.m., Beach Museum of Art. Join the K-State Physics Department and North Central Kansas Astronomical Society for an evening of stargazing, a tour of the "Goodnight Moon" exhibition, and a star-based art project.
