Exhibition: Konza: Sculpture by John Powers. July 9, 2012 through May 31, 2013, Beach Museum of Art. Konza is a large kinetic sculpture inspired by the natural beauty and movement of the nearby Konza prairie, and is the newest addition to the Beach Museum of Art's permanent collection. Patrick Duegaw, K-State alumnus and founding member of Wichita's Fisch Haus artist cooperative, presents the latest installment of his ongoing "Painted Theater Project." Conceived as a theatrical performance, Duegaw's "Inadvertent Arson" incorporates painted portraits, props, and sets as surrogates for living actors, three-dimensional objects, and a stage. Action is implied instead of performed, and a dialogue appears in the form of artist-generated text that accompanies each portrait.

Chandaria is the chairman and chief executive officer of the Comcraft Group of Companies in Kenya, and is the Kansas State University International Entrepreneur of the Year. Colloquium: A Microdomain Model of Electrical Activity in Cardiac Tissue by Joyce Lin. 2:30 p.m., 122, Cardwell Hall. Lin is a professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Utah. It recognizes outstanding research and advising of graduate students. World AIDS Day. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Near the Food Court, K-State Student Union. SHAPE, LGBT and KDHE will have free condoms, pins, water bottles, etc., along with valuable information about STDs, especially HIV. We want to raise awareness and answer questions regarding this disease. We will also be doing free HIV testing. KDHE and Lafene Health Center.

Exhibit: Inadvertent Arson: Paintings and Drawings by Patrick Duegaw. October 5, 2012 through January 13, 2013 Beach Museum of Art. Patrick Duegaw, K-State alumnus and founding member of Wichita's Fisch Haus artist cooperative, presents the latest installment of his ongoing "Painted Theater Project." Conceived as a theatrical performance, Duegaw's "Inadvertent Arson" incorporates painted portraits, props, and sets as surrogates for living actors, three-dimensional objects, and a stage. Action is implied instead of performed, and a dialogue appears in the form of artist-generated text that accompanies each portrait.

Exhibition: Forces: The Shaping of Manhattan, Fort Riley and Kansas State University. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., September 7, 2012 through January 13, 2013, Flint Hills Discovery Center, 315 South 3rd Street. An exhibition that will follow ideas, events and issues that have influenced the military post, a town and a college from about 1863 to World War I. Sponsored by the College of Human Ecology, K-State Libraries, and more.

Exhibition: Goodnight Moon: Selections from the Permanent Collection. June 5 through December 23, Beach Museum of Art. From starlit staircases and moon glow to glowing sparklers and carnival lights, this exhibition explores the many facets of night. For museum hours and exhibit details, see the website.
Exhibition: Konza: Sculpture by John Powers. July 9, 2012 through May 31, 2013, Beach Museum of Art. Konza is a large kinetic sculpture inspired by the natural beauty and movement of the nearby Konza prairie, and is the newest addition to the Beach Museum of Art's permanent collection.
