Bilingual/Bicultural education students interacting to obtain success (BESITOS)
Description:
BESITOS works to recruit bilingual and culturally diverse participants who speak the
low incidence languages of English language learner (ELL) student populations, and
place these recruits in the field of Secondary or Elementary Education. BESITOS increases
diversity in the K-State College of Education and on the K-State campus. Graduates
from the program remain in contact with the program director at K-State to help with
recruitment. To date, 66 graduates of the program have been placed in 18 school districts
in the state of Kansas in the field of education, serving as classroom teachers, elementary
school principals, and directors of English language programs throughout the state
of Kansas.
