Kansas State University

Examples of Campus Engagement and Community Development

Engagement is not a new concept to KSU. It is happening in every department across the University, and through the applied research and work of Cooperative Extension in every county of the state. One goal of the CECD is to help capture and highlight the impacts of the engaged work that KSU is already doing. Some examples of current engaged work are listed below.

Professor Nancy Muturi

A community service learning project has helped public relations students at Kansas State University gain some real-life experience in their field and provide useful materials to educate the public on water-related issues across Kansas.

Professor Alok Bhandari

and students from his natural resources and environmental sciences capstone class collaborated with Fort Scott on a service-learning project that saved the community $30,000.

Ron Wilson

"Discover Phillip County" initiated projects are being planned to kick off in 2007.
