Food Science and Industry

(including food business and operations management and food science)

A major in food science and industry will provide students with outstanding job opportunities. Students take courses in the basic sciences and apply the knowledge learned to core food science courses such as food processing, food chemistry, food microbiology, food engineering, and human nutrition. State-of-the-art laboratories and small processing facilities give students hands-on experience. The food science program prepares students for a variety of careers such as food production operations, quality assurance, process engineering, business management sales, and research and product development.

Students can choose to focus primarily on either food business and operations management option (a business-oriented approach) or a science option (quality control or research and development).
