Career Specialist

Career Specialists are K-State students trained to work in a peer mentoring/counseling role to assist others in the career planning process. Career Specialists guide high school students, college students, and community members through career assessments and assist them in connecting career goals with academic programs at K-State.

This team directly serves more than 1,300 K-State students annually and delivers a crucial service to the university community, which supports both student retention and recruitment.

Responsibilities
  • Guide students and community members through career assessments to help them connect career goals with academic programs

  • Facilitate Academic/Career Decisions, EDCEP 120, a 1-credit hour career planning class

  • Coordinate and administer Career Center programs and activities including outreach presentations, and assisting with the annual Majors, Minors and More Fair

  • Other duties as assigned

Application and Selection Procedures

To receive an application, interested students must attend a mandatory orientation meeting at 4 p.m. on January 24, 25, or 26, 2017 in the Berney Family Welcome Center Theater.

Application and resume due: Friday, February 3, 2017 at 5 p.m.

Final selection will be determined after a two round interview process.

First round interviews for those selected will take place on Saturday morning, February 25, 2017.
