8:00 AM – 8:00 PM default

clarification was requested.  Request was for the Class Schedule – weekly view in Student Center to extend to 8:00 PM so that evening out-of-class exams/quizzes are visible.  (e.g., MATH QZ at 7:05 PM, CHM QZ at 7:30 PM)

Kuali Course and Curriculum Project (L. Wilson)

Feedback from demo was that this product would be very helpful for management of the University course and curriculum approval process.  Loren asked “Who will own the project?” and “Where would it fall in the prioritization of projects?”

Brief Project Updates

Final Grade Modifications/Automated Grade Changes.  (Crow)

Format was shared for “F/NC Participation Validation” to indicate if assigned “F” or “No Credit” was based on class performance or non-participation in any academic related activity.  This validation will be required with submission of grades to comply with Title IV financial aid regulations.  Discussion followed.

• Can validation be left blank?  No.  Faculty cannot save grades without validation message for “F” grades.  iSIS grade processing converts unsaved grades to saved and “F” with no message will convert to “NR.”   Concern:  Conversion from “F” to “NR” is not appropriate.  Will faculty be notified that submitted “F” was changed to “NR”? 
• Current policy converts “I” and “NR” to “F” after next term of enrollment – how will those “F” grades be validated?
• How will transfer of grades from KSOL to iSIS work?  KSOL links to iSIS.  Faculty will get message about validating “F” grades, as well as a reminder message to approve grades in iSIS.
• Mike will test to see if DO role can see participation validation.

Student Planner. (Crow) 

Work will resume after HLC site visit.  Fall 2012 implementation is planned.

Post-Enrollment Requirement Checking (PERC). (Crow) 

PERC is in production.  Running the week before classes begin is recommended.  A reminder will be sent in August.

Post-Baccalaureate Minors.   (Crow) 

Training is in progress for processing completion of minors and secondary majors.

Designated Access. (Letourneau) 

100 students participated in pilot.  35 designees created.  Some tweaking will be done before March 26 “go-live.”  Diana Blake has developed communications plan.

Admissions Web Application. (L. Wilson)

Updated application will “go live” on April 12.  Applicants will set up eID earlier in the process, and will be able to start, leave and return to complete the application without starting over.

iSIS-EIS Fit Gap Analysis (L. Wilson) 

Work is underway to determine how much of DCE’s EIS can fit in iSIS.  EIS is the DCE system for course management and enrollment in distance courses that was developed by the Office of Mediated Education.

DARS uAchieve Upgrade (Cooper) 

Project team led by Chuck Gould is meeting monthly.  “Go-live” tentatively is set for October-December 2012.  Focus is on exceptions and improved appearance.  Dean’s Office/DARS staff will help test.  University of Nebraska-Lincoln is working toward implementation in June, and we will benefit from their experience. 

Other Items

• (Crow)  Request to have DARS exceptions function as equivalent courses cannot be accommodated because what an exception one college approves may not be acceptable to another college.
• (Crow)  iSIS will not be available on Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 6:00 AM to noon (maintenance).
• (Crow) Discussion continued about who can override class capacities when enrollment capacity is less than room capacity for enrollment management purposes.  Enrollment should never exceed room capacity and has to be strictly maintained for safety reasons.  Mike will check into the possibility of setting enrollment capacity = room capacity, with reserved capacity for “class permission only”  or some other reserve capacity hold that would allow department staff with appropriate role to grant access to reserved seats and NOT exceed room capacity.
