Committee members were provided address to revised LASER Project website and asked to review site. Faculty Senate Leadership discussions to move to an electronic catalog has been passed by department heads. No budget for operating costs to make this change has been approved. Spring enrollment begins Monday, October 23.
UGE Council has conducted election and elected Peter Mudrack as new chair. Members were reminded of the timeliness of getting approved classes to Academic Affairs for appropriate action. Academic Affairs has met with Steven Kiefer about the University Honors Program and is working with him in the formulation of the program curriculum. Anticipated date of completion is in spring 2007. Senator Greg Eistein has joined Academic Affairs to replace Senator Don Hedrick. Ad-hoc committee has been formed to review course and curriculum submittal and approval procedures. Member of Academic Affairs on committee to review future of UGE program. Student Senate has approved the Honor and Integrity System investigation and adjudication procedures.
Provost Lecture will be held October 23. Speaker will be Vinton G. Cerf, Chief Internet Evangelist - Google/Regus

Human Ecology's NST proposal regarding FSHS 524 was approved by electronic vote. Paperwork has been sent to Enrollment Services.
Wheatley along with Donna Menke from the Division of Continuing Education and Nancy Bolsen, Adult Student Services discussed as a follow-up item the Fresh Start Program. An Executive Summary - Comparison of Academic Fresh Start Data from Big 12 Institutions and Peer Institutions was passed out to members. Several questions were raised about the contents of this handout and a discussion continued about how this program should be administered. The question also was brought up as to whether faculty and Academic Affairs had been asked for input. The recommendation was made by Hightower to move to table this item to next month's meeting. It was second by Nielsen. Motion carried.
Two new columns have been added to the NST and ORC action matrix (Reapprove and Discontinue). Revised matrix will be emailed to members. Delker asked all corrections be submitted before next month's meeting.
Ewanow submitted a draft report on the meeting she coordinated on October 4 to discuss recruitment activities. The meeting was attended by some CAPP members and their representatives. Discussion confirmed need to have a defined policy and procedure in place for department's involvement with recruiting activities. Ewanow will email copy of meeting summary to members. Pat Bosco is scheduled to speak at the November 2006 CAPP meeting.
Delker presented a request from the Office of Student Life addressing current procedure for notifying colleges of students' absences. A discussion pursued on what was being asked of the committee (1) validation of number of absences for each college or (2) consistency in number of days. There also was a discussion why there were different numbers of days indicated for some college. Delker indicated he would respond back to Carla Jones, Student Life, to contact individual colleges.
Hightower indicated a need to be able to identify KSU faculty who led study abroad courses on transcripts. It was suggested perhaps the International Study Abroad and Registrar offices might be able to flag these courses. Also it was felt the new iSIS system might resolve this problem.
Cochran announced on October 16 Dr. Rosenberg and Dr. Lowe from Deakin University will be visiting the campus.
Donnelly announced Retired Associate Dean Dave Mugler has some serious health problems. Lynch will email members an address where a card can be sent.
