Call to Order

Karen Pence, Chair, called the meeting to order at 10:35 a.m.

Minutes

Minutes of March 8, 2006 were approved as distributed.

Standing Reports

Admissions/Financial Aid (Moeder)

No report.

Registrar (Nielsen)

Nielsen reported that an e-mail announcement was sent on behalf of Beth Unger and Tom Rawson to the LASER Project Team indicating that the decision has been made to switch from Oracle Student Solution (OSS) to Oracle/PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (CS) software. Further information and timeline will be available later.

Academic Affairs/Faculty Senate (Trussell)

Trussell mentioned prerequisite changes are moving right along. The fast track prerequisite form is being used now for both undergraduate and graduate courses this semester only . A brief discussion took place about graduate course prerequisites. Carol Shanklin, Graduate School , clarified that beginning August 2006 all colleges should use the updated definitions approved by Faculty Senate Academic Affairs this academic year.

Non-Standard Time Requests

Delker: SPAN 161 Spanish I ( Salina campus)

Delker explained need for non-standard time request. A motion was made by Delker and seconded by Donnelly to approve the non-standard time request. Motion passed.

Wheatley (Shreve): Non-standard evening final exam times for SPAN 161, SPAN 162, SPAN 165, and SPAN 261. Shreve presented the ORC requests. Following lengthy discussion, many points were not clear and the committee felt a decision could not be made at this time. Perl moved to table this item to allow clarification of points in question. Delker seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Pence confirmed that CAPP approved AERO 410 and AERO 411 non-standard time requests by electronic vote.

Unfinished Business

Pence: Final Exam policy (update)

The subcommittee met and Pence sent lists of course sections meeting once a week to college representatives on CAPP to determine approximately how many course sections meeting once a week might need an exam time during fall exam week. Pence asked for members to get input back to her and the committee will proceed from there.

New Business

Pence: CAPP representative to FS/AA committee on "Routing, Approval & Notification Policy"

Pence indicated her interest in participating on the committee. Trussell will include her as a member.

Pence: Volunteers for committee on "Academic Definitions"

Wheatley informed Pence of her interest in continuing this project. Delker and Donnelly also indicated interest in this effort.

Announcements

Pence: CTAM Project and GoArmyEd portal (Nielsen, Stevens) will be an agenda item at the May meeting

Nielsen briefly commented on this. CTAM stands for Centralized Tuition Assistance Management. Kansas State University is participating in this program. This program is available only for soldiers and will most likely be primarily distance education. Betty Stevens will speak more about admission requirements for these individuals. The portal is scheduled to go live on May 1, 2006.
