Gunile DeVault requested two additions: "ORC Policy" and "Missing Grade Sheets-Fall 2002 Semester".
Alison Wheatley requested the tabled motion from the last meeting be added to the agenda.
Minutes from the December 11, 2002 were approved after one typographic correction was made.
The committee again discussed this request for a 75-minute time block on MW. It was decided to leave the motion tabled until the February meeting.
Jackie Spears distributed a draft of the Policy for Standard Class Times for Summer Semester. She is reviewing the policy and requested input from the committee. Ray Hightower distributed a proposal for establishing dates for the summer sessions. The committee discussed the dates being set by the calendar committee. Jackie will meet with the calendar committee and with Ray Hightower and will report back to the committee in February.
Gunile DeVault distributed the Non-Standard Class Meeting Time petition; the committee made suggestions for changes to the petition. Gunile will make changes to the petition and bring it back to the February meeting. It was suggested that the committee keep all the approved petitions together since the policy directs CAPP to do an annual review of the approved petitions and of the policy. The policy will become part of the Department Scheduler's Notebook. (Sharon Hauck, sub-committee chair of the Department Schedulers Committee, is meeting with department schedulers to review the contents of the notebook.)
Gunile DeVault stated that associate deans from three colleges still need to meet with her. DeVault will bring the draft policy back to the committee for discussion and for the committee to determine what steps should be followed to get the policy approved. The policy will become part of the Department Scheduler's Notebook. Discussion followed concerning the enforcement of the Semester Final Examination Policy. It was suggested that instances where the policy is not followed be reported to the appropriate dean or to CAPP.
Gunile DeVault distributed a monthly summary of agenda items for CAPP meetings. Since the chair rotates annually, the calendar could help the new chair identify items that need to go on each month's agenda.
Gunile DeVault announced the new registrar, Dr. Monty Nielsen, will be starting February 3, 2003 and will be attending the next CAPP meeting. She announced other personnel changes in the Registrar's Office.
Gunile DeVault reported that seventy-four grades sheets (affecting 2053 grades) were not submitted on time this fall semester. She reminded all the colleges that missing grades affect students in many ways.
Gunile DeVault reviewed the contents of the ORC list that was distributed at the December CAPP meeting. The list noted which courses meet the new policy and which courses that did not meet the new policy. The policy becomes effective Spring 2004. Faculty must receive approval for all courses with ORC activities. It was determined that there is not a form in which to submit a request for an ORC activity. Jackie Spears volunteered to develop a form and email the draft form to the committee during the following week.
It was moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
