Dr. Thomas Schermerhorn's laboratory

"Our laboratory studies cellular secretion as a model for the general pathways used to direct proteins to specific areas in the cell. In particular, we are interested in the organization of protein complexes on the cell surface and the role that these complexes play in normal secretory processes. We are currently trying to understand the formation and regulation of these protein complexes in insulin secreting cells and pancreatic carcinoma cells, and the cellular consequences when these complexes become disorganized."
