"Our laboratory focuses on the development of novel agents based on enyne-carbodiimides, which cleave DNA, the genetic material. These compounds have the potential to harm normal as well as tumor cells when used for chemotherapy. To circumvent this problem, we will synthesize versions of these compounds that will be activated only in the target tissue, where they will ultimately cause the death of tumor cells."
