Dr. Jean-Pierre Perchellet's laboratory

"The major goal of the Anti-Cancer Drug Laboratory is to identify and characterize new types of lead antitumor compounds, which are either synthesized by organic chemists at Kansas State University or identified from chemical libraries at the University of Kansas. The priority is to determine how these drugs act to decrease the proliferation, motility and survival of various tumor cells cultured in the laboratory. The ultimate objective is to demonstrate the therapeutic potential of the most promising compounds by determining their ability to prevent the development, induce the regression and decrease the metastatic activity of tumors transplanted in mice. Such preclinical testing is important to identify drugs with improved bioactivity that may be valuable to develop new means of chemotherapy."
