Dr. Ryszard Jankowiak's laboratory "We are developing clinically useful biomarker-technologies for cancer risk assessment. Our goal is to provide new, accurate, and non-invasive tools for cancer diagnosis. We are focusing on cancer-causing derivatives of the female hormone estrogen and of a class of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). We are studying new approaches to detect the association of these molecules with DNA. One approach utilizes antibodies to create biosensor chips for detection and quantitation of biomarkers and detecting the binding of estrogen- and PAH-derivatives to DNA." |
