Elections for the 2012-2013 Black Student Union Executive Board are Tuesday, April 24th. If you are still interested in a position you can still be nominated today or if you want to decline from a position that you were nominated for last week then you can do so as well. Please be prepared for a Q&A after you give a speech. Good luck to all who are running for a position!

For the fifth time in the last seven years, Kansas State University's Black Student Union has been named the most outstanding black student government council in the Big 12 Conference.

Shahna Campbell, a conference delegate, was named the most outstanding junior in the Big 12 Conference on Black Government

Lorenza Breckenridge III, was elected to a conference office.

This is just a reminder that the AASU Vietnam Veterans Tribute is tonight at 6-7pm with a Candlelight Vigil at 7:15pm. It will be held in the KState Ballroom. For those of you needing study session sign ins this is a great opportunity and will count if you attend. Bronson will be there for those of you who will be attending so that you can sign up. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Overall we took 2nd place. Also we also would like to give a special thanks to The Freshman Action Team and Tyrone Williams for their work at the Children's Carnival.

I am happy to announce that we will be awarding three (3) $200 scholarships this semester. Dr. Gordon has generously provided us with funding for the third scholarship. Just wanted to say congratulations to our new Mr. and Mrs BSU, Mr. Caleb Taylor and Toria Freeman! Everyone that was nominated did an exceptional job and had very intellectual answers in the Q&A portion and everyone represented themselves just a well.

Black Student Union will be hosting its annual Represent event. Different Multicultural Organizations will be display their talent through singing, dancing and step. This event will shine a light on the different organizations on campus and will give students a view of their diversity, expression and involvement This is a FREE event! So come out and support!

BSU will be attending the Family Day football game Saturday, September 17th. Tickets will be sold in the Union Wednesday the 14th, Thursday the 15th and Friday the 16th from 12-2pm. The cost for tickets are as follows: $8 for paid BSU members and $10 for non paid BSU members. We will be meeting at Marlatt Saturday at 4:30pm sharp. GO CATS!

To support Hispanc Heritage month, we ask that you go to the John Quinones from 20/20 lecture this friday September 16th at 6pm in Forum Hall.Once again, there will be no meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, but we will support Hispanic Heritage month and move the meeting to Friday and attend the John Quinones lecture. **We will meet in the MSO office at 5:45**

BSU would like to thank you for coming out to this weekends events! It was a huge success! Also we would like to remind everyone that our first general body meeting will be August 30th at 7:00pm in room 212 in the Union. We will be talking about membership, the BIG 12 Conference, and also talk about the Mentor/Mentee program as well. This year's Welcome back BBQ will be held on August 27, 2011 at Quinlan Nature Area which is across from Van Zile. There will be free food, games, Multicultural Organizations and much more.

The annual all white party will be held at the Blue Hills Room August 27, 2011 from 10-4am. The price is $5.
