TOPICS IN EVOLUTIONARY ECOLOGY
Meetings: Thursday 2:30-3:30 pm, Ackert Hall, Room 324B

Avian Ecology

Topics in Evolutionary Ecology is a graduate level class and journal club in the Division of Biology at Kansas State University.  Topics change each semester to keep discussions lively, and to make the course available to most graduate students in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology section.  In Fall 2004, the topic will be Conservation Biology, and we will consider papers that examine examine applied and theoretical aspects of the conservation of biological diversity on the planet.  The format of this graduate class is flexible and can be used as a forum to discuss recent papers in the literature, to make informal presentations on research proposals, or to receive feedback on manuscripts that are being prepared for publication.

All interested persons are welcome to attend.  Students planning to attend meetings regularly in Fall 2004 are invited to register for this seminar as a topics course: Biol 697 (undergrad) or Biol 890 (grad, 1-credit, see the Biology Course Schedule for Fall 2004).  Fall 2004 will be the last semester that it will be possible to enroll in this graduate course for credit.  Students enrolled in the class are expected to attend the class regularly, be active participants in seminar discussions and to lead a group discussion for 1-2 journal articles.  Discussion materials can be found as PDF files in the schedule below and will be available one week before each meeting.
