Academic advisor in the Center for Students and Professional Services in the College of Education
Burns monitors students’ academic progress, graduation plans and testing requirements for graduation and licensure. Her research interests include gender issues in teacher-student interactions, standardized testing and advising relationships in higher education.
Burns holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Jackson State University and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Kansas State University. Her hobbies include reading children’s books, traveling to small towns to see historical sites, cooking for family and friends, and taking long walks.
