Up to 2 full-time field technician positions are available at the USGS Kansas Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit within the Division of Biology at Kansas State University. As a part of a collaborative research effort, we are seeking skilled individuals to join a large research project focused on lesser prairie-chicken ecology in the Great Plains. A successful applicant will possess abilities and expertise with trapping and handling lesser prairie-chickens, vhf radio-telemetry, data entry skills (Excel), identification of prairie plant species, and demonstrated ability to collect data on public and private land. Duties will consist of 60% field data collection, 30% electronic data entry, and 10% equipment maintenance.
