The University Band is a non-auditioned ensemble which meets Spring semesters. It not only provides a quality ensemble experience for students from all majors on campus, but a valuable opportunity for music education majors to perform on secondary instruments. Music education majors who are taking independent study in conducting also frequently have opportunities to rehearse the band on a weekly basis, and conduct the band in concert.

"The opportunity to play and conduct the University Band has been one of the greatest assets to me in my education at K-State. Few other places can you get the chance to stand on the podium in front of your peers in such a fashion and teach them as they teach you. Practicing on secondary instruments is also invaluable to me as I prepare to teach young students how to begin on these instruments themselves. Without University Band, I would not feel as prepared to go out and teach."
