JEANNE COPELAND is originally from Topeka, Kansas and graduated with her B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from KSU in 1998. While working on her undergraduate degree, Jeanne was a member of the KSU Flag Line and was appointed head section leader during the 1997 season. In 1998, Jeanne continued her education at K-State and became the Color Guard Coordinator during the 2 years in which she obtained a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. After a 3-season hiatus, she returned as the coordinator in 2003. In 2005, the KSU Color Guard recieved the "Marching Pride" award, which is awarded each year to the section in the band who displays the strongest work ethic and dedication. In 2007, the 34-member guard (largest in KSU history!) was awarded the distinction of outstanding "Section of the Year." Jeanne has taught flag skills at summer camps for high school students in Kansas and Oklahoma, and has been an adjudicator for various Kansas Color Guard competitions. Jeanne is currently employed as a Speeh-Language Pathologist at Meadowlark Hills in Manhattan.

SHEILA WALKER is originally from Smith Center, KS. She graduated from Kansas State University with a BS in Apparel and Textile Marketing in 1998. While attending KSU, she was a member of the colorguard all four years. She was also a member of Tau Beta Sigma and a K-State Band Ambassador. Sheila was a judge for the KSUMB colorguard auditions the past two years. She is married to husband Cambray and has two children, Alexys and Aurora.

KATHLEEN HENAO assumed her duties as the Classy Cat Coordinator January 2000. After spending eleven years as the director of the Golden Gale Dance Team and a FACS instructor at Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville, Kansas. Henao also served as head cheerleading coach for four years and tennis coach for five years. Her dance teams have been recipients of numerous awards and have participated in many distinguished performances. Henao has coached several All-Americans. She has had many dance members who have or are currently dancing at prestigious Division I, Division II, and Community Colleges. Henao a native of Topeka, is a 1981 graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Apparel Design and she also has a degree in Family Consumer Science from Washburn University.

SHANNON MEIS, K-State Twirling Coordinator, graduated from K-State with a B.S. in Education and M.S. in Curriculum & Instruction with a Library Media Specialist Certificate in '89 and '94 respectively. She was raised in Dodge City, KS and currently resides in Salina with her husband Kris and two children, Lauren and Logan, where she is the Instructor/Coach and Owner of Shannon's Stars Athletic Twirling Club. Shannon's credentials include numerous local, state, regional, and national advanced level awards. She has produced feature twirlers for three universities, including K-State. Shannon performed as the K-State Feature Twirler from 1985-89 and is currently a licensed National Baton Twirling Association judge.


MRS. DEBORAH MARSHALL

DEBORAH MARSHALL learned her administrative skills in high school, personalized training in the US Air Force and 38 years of experience. Her youngest daughter, Stacy was one of Dr. Tracz’s first recruits to K-State and was instrumental in getting her Mom hired in this position. When not at this position, she plays the organ and does some secretary work at her church. The rest of her time is spent sewing or birdwatching.

DANE DANIELSEN is completing the Bachelors of Music Education degree at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. During his time at Friends his performed with the University Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz I Ensemble, Jazz II Ensemble, Brass Quintet, Trumpet Ensemble, and the Athletic Band. He performed at KMEA with various groups while attending Friends University. Dane was principal Trumpet in the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble and played lead in both Jazz Ensembles. He studied trumpet under the instruction of Henry Elder and Gary Leopold.
While attending school Dane worked with Andover Central High School Band program as a college intern. His duties varied from conducting the Marching Band and Pep Band, Conducting the Chamber groups and teaching privately at the school. Dane worked with the middle school and both feeding Elementary school bands. Dane is looking forward to his time at Kansas State and working with the Instrumental department.

Originally from Overland Park, Kansas, EMORY DEASE spent his undergraduate career at Central College in Pella, Iowa, studying percussion under Stan Dahl. While earning his B.A. in Music Education, Emory performed in numerous ensembles at the college including the nationally recognized “Flying Pans” steel band. Emory was also the winner of the 2007 Central College Concerto Aria competition, performing on solo vibraphone.
Emory has spent three years as Director of Percussion at Newton High School in Newton, IA, where he concurrently fulfilled his student teaching duties. Emory’s percussion arrangements have been heard across the Midwest, performed by the award-winning “Newton Cardinal Regiment”.

ANNA EAVERSON is a native of Olathe, Kansas. She received her degree in Music Education from Kansas State University in the fall of 2007. During her four year tenure at KSU, Anna participated in the Horn section in the following ensembles: Symphony Band, Concert Band, University Band, Orchestra, Brass Ensemble, Marching Band, and Cat Band. She was also fortunate enough to travel to the South Pacific and Greece with two of the ensembles.
Anna is a member of the National Educators Association, Kansas National Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference, and Kansas Music Educators Association and was awarded the Lloyd W. Muir memorial scholarship and is a Dick Mason Music Education Scholar.

TERESA PURCELL graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso in May of 2007 with a Bachelors of Music Education. During her time at UTEP, she studied flute with Melissa Colgin-Abeln and performed with the University Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, the Marching Miners, Flautistas Flute Choir and played tenor sax with the Jazz Band. In addition to performing with ensembles at UTEP, Teresa performed for two seasons with the El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestras under the direction of Benjamin Loeb.
After graduating, Teresa moved to Savannah, Georgia to accept a band director position at Windsor Forest High School. At Windsor, she has taught Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced level band classes, chamber music, jazz band, percussion ensemble, and music appreciation as well as coordinating and directing the Marching Knights and Knight Pep Band. She also performs with the Savannah Winds.
Teresa is a member of the Music Educators National Association, Georgia Music Educators Association, Texas Music Educators Association and Women Band Directors International.       

LYLE SOBBA is originally from Ellinwood, Kansas.  He received his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Kansas State University in the spring of 2008.  While at K-State, Lyle participated and held numerous leadership positions with the trombone section in the following ensembles:  Symphony Band, Concert Band, University Band, various Jazz Bands, Orchestra, The Slide Advantage Trombone Ensemble and all athletic bands fielded by the university.  Upon graduation, Lyle moved to Stanton County to accept a position as director of bands.  While there, Lyle directed the high school and middle school concert bands in addition to the sixth grade and fifth grade beginning band.  He also taught courses in jazz band, music theory, and managed an active private lesson studio.
Lyle currently holds affiliation with National Educators Association, Kansas National Educators Association, Kansas Music Educators Association and Music Educators National Conference.  He is also a member of Kappa Kappa Psi honorary band fraternity.  Lyle was the 2008 recipient of the Outstanding Future Teacher Award for Secondary Education.
