Camp News
2011 Leadership and Auxiliary Camp a Success!!
The 2011 edition of the Leadership and Auxiliary Camp was the K-State Band's most successful yet. This July, 120 Drum Majors, Section Leaders, Dancers, Percussionist, and Colorguard members from all over Kansas and beyond came to the KSU campus to learn conducting, leadership skills, guard technique, and percussion technique. The students at Leadership and Auxiliary Camp participated in a number of large and small group activites that helped strengthen their leadership skills, teamwork, positive attitudes, and work ethic. The camp was "process driven" with the goal that each student would come away with the knowledge and confidence necessary to be leaders within their own band programs. The camp was concluded with a wonderful performance where each student group got a chance to perform and demonstrate what they had learned in the couple days spent under the instruction of K-State Band Staff, Graduate Assistants, Drum Majors, Band Leadership, and Kansas Music Educators.
