Clinics, Workshops, and Camps @ K-State

Band Director Day - Band Day - Central States Marching Festival - Concert Band Clinic - Future Music Educator's Day
Summer Music Camp - Summer Leadership & Band Camp

The Kansas State University Bands offer several different clinics, workshops, and camps each school year and during the summer months. Our goal is to provide as many resources toward the support and development of public school instrumental music, its present and future teachers, and its students. Students and staff from the K-State Bands also actively support and assist in the clinics and workshops that are presented on our campus by other faculty and divisions within the Department of Music, such as our Future Music Educators Day.

You may register for any of our clinics below.

Band Director Day - The Annual Band Director Day for 2008 is tentatively set for August 30, 2008.

Band Director Day is brought to us by the Kansas State University Athletic Department and University Bands. This day is a chance for area band directors to enjoy some hospitality and excitement of K-State football. It is our way of saying thank you for all the hard work and long hours that you put into your work. Your dedication to the profession makes your student's experiences greater.

FINAL RATINGS for the 2007 FESTIVAL

The K-State Bands' Central States Marching Festival has grown into the premier marching band festival in the state of Kansas and the region. Twenty-four of the finest high school marching bands in the area participated in the 2006 CSMF. Due to the bad weather, the 2006 festival performance was held at the Indoor Football Practice Facility on the campus of Kansas State University. We are very proud to be able to bring the kind of innovative and educational concepts to our festival that make the day one of the truly enjoyable and instructional marching events in all of the participants' year and are thankful to the Athletic Department for offering us a climate controlled indoor warmup and performance facility for our most recent festival!

At the CSMF, participants receive quality:

Centered on the K-State campus in Manhattan, the students are offered opportunities to visit the area and gain a sense of the University's atmosphere. The three-day event includes six large ensembles, percussion ensembles, sectional rehearsals and master classes with the K-State Department of Music studio faculty. For the directors, clinician sessions are offered by the honor band directors as well as an opportunity to meet the clinicians at a sponsored luncheon. The weekend concludes with performances by all six honor bands and their percussion ensembles on the stage of McCain Auditorium on Sunday afternoon. The 2009 Future Music Educators Day will be March 25, 2009

Kansas State University's Division of Music Education proudly hosts an annual Future Music Educators Day. The event allows high school students to follow an assigned student mentor through a sort of "Day-in-the-life-of" a music education student. Rather than being specifically a recruiting activity for the university, Future Music Educators Day is an attempt to expose potential music students to a career in education. It is more of a recruitment for the profession than for any one institution. Built into their day's schedule are the following meetings and presentations:

The Kansas State University Music Camp is open to all students grades 5 through 12. A typical daily schedule during camp includes a full group rehearsal in the morning, followed by a sectional (small group) rehearsal with instruction by a specialist. Lunch is followed by a large group then small group instruction. The camp culminates with a final performance by the camp ensembles final afternoon.

Resident campers will stay in a university residence hall. Cafeteria-style meals are served in the university dining center.
