Dr. John
Dillard
|
Dr. Dillard is currently a professor of chemistry at Virginia Polytechnic
Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA. He earned his B.S.
in Chemistry from Austin College and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Kansas
State University. His research interest is in the general area of
inorganic surface chemistry. Dr. Dillard enjoys presenting chemistry
demonstrations in his lectures. While at Kansas State, he served as
Master Alchemist of the Kappa Colony of Alpha Chi Sigma. |
Dr. John
Hassler

Dr.
Hassler is currently a visiting professor of chemical enginnering at
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA.
He earned his B.S. in 1960 and Ph.D. in 1966, both from Kansas State
University. He joined the faculty at the Univeristy of Maine in 1977
and stayed there until 2003. He research interests are in process
control instrumentation and measurement, real-time computing, and
laboratory instrumentation. He currently resides with his wife and has
three children. |

Mr. Irvin currently resides in Lafayette, CA. While at Kansas State he served as Kappa Colony Reporter.

Dr.
Clifton Meloan
|
Dr. Meloan is a emeritus
professor of chemistry at Kansas State University. He, and David
Wetzel of the Department of Grain Science and Industry, established the
Microbeam Molecular Spectroscopy Laboratory in 1991 based on
the IRΦsTM state-of-the-art infrared integrated
microscope/spectrometer. In 1996, he recieved the inagural
University Teaching Scholar Chair Award. Dr. Meloan served as
Beta Rho Chapter Advisor for nearly thirty years. He currently
resides in Manhattan, KS with his wife Marilyn and has three grown
children and six grandchildren. On December 8, 2007, he won $200,014 in a Powerball drawing.

Schmidt

include psychopharmacology and the neurobiology of the central nervous
system, including the neurochemical basis for abnormal behavior and

Dr.
Setser is a Distinguished Emeritus Professor of Chemistry at Kansas
State University. While at Kansas State University, he conducted
research that eventually led to the development of laser eye surgery.
He also served as Beta Rho Chapter Advisor.

Dr. Lewis Shadoff

Dr. Shadoff recieved his Ph.D. in
Chemistry from Kansas State in 1966. Since then he has been
employed at Dow Chemical Company in Lake Jackson, TX where he is
currently an Environmental Consultant. He is currently Technical
Adviser to Frank G. Evans Center for Excellence, South Texas College of
Law. Dr. Shadoff spent over 25 years developing methods to detect
toxic chemicals in the environment used in government and Dow studies.
He has over 25 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals
in this area.

Jacobson

Dr. Jacobson
recieved his B.S. from the University of Wisconsin, Platteville in 1965
and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Kansas State in 1969. He is
currently a Professor of Medical Chemistry - Pharmacology and
Toxicology at the University of Arizona in Tuscon, AZ. The focus
of his research is studying the involvement of poly(ADP-ribose)
polymerases (PARPs) and poly(ADP-ribose) glycohydrolase (PARG) in the
responses of cells to potentially toxic conditions. He recieved
an award for Outstanding University Achievement from the University of
Arizona in 2006. In 2007 he was named an Alumni Fellow of the
College of Arts & Sciences at Kansas State University. |

Dr. Kotz is a Distinguished Teaching Professor
Emeritus at the State University of New York at Oneonta. He
earned his B.S. from Washingto and Lee University in 1959 and his Ph.D.
in chemistry from Cornell University in 1963. He was an
Assisstant Professor at Kansas State University from 1965 to 1970.
He is currently a mentor for the American Chemical Society's National Chemistry Olympic Team
and is co-author of two textbooks for inorganic chemisty and two
introductory general chemistry books. He has also published a
number of research papers in inorganic and organometallic chemistry.
He received a SUNY Chancellor's Award in 1979, a National
Catalyst Award in Chemical Education from the Chemical Manufacturers
Association in 1992, an award from Innovative Excellence in
Teaching, Learning, and Technology in 1996, and the inagural
Distinguished Education Award from the Binghamton (NY) American
Chemical Society section in 2001. In addition, he is a Fellow of
the American Association for the Advancement of Science and had the
John Kotz Fund for Innovations in Science Education at SUNY-Oneonta
established in his honor in May 2005. Dr. Kotz has two children
and seven grandchildren.
