Chemistry Demonstration Shows

To further the Second Object of Alpha Chi Sigma, the Beta Rho Chapter performs Chemistry Demonstration Shows on campus and at area schools. These shows provide the Brothers of Alpha Chi Sigma the opportunity to introduce chemistry to thousands of young people. These demonstrations help students see the "magic: and practicality of modern chemistry. Schoolchildren from surrounding communities are treated to an assortment of chemistry "tricks" such as exploding hydrogen balloons, a "puking" pumpkin, and dynamite soap. The shows last from fifteen minutes to over an hour, and are adaptable for students of all ages. The program is free to schools as a service to the community.

If you would like to see one of our shows, we perform at K-State's Family Day each fall and at K-State's All-University Open House each spring. These shows are open to the public and free of charge. The dates of these events can be found on the K-State webpage. We also perform shows and have hands-on activities during the American Chemical Society's National Chemistry Week each October at the Manhattan Town Center Mall. Each year, National Chemistry Week is the Sunday through Saturday containing October 23.
