Course Survey Review

Spring Timeline Approximation

 

Early January

Courses have been selected for review.

Mid February

A letter from Peter Mudrack , Chair of the UGE Council , is mailed to selected departments and instructors.

Mid/Late February

A letter from the Office of Assessment is mailed to each department head and instructors of the courses selected for review. Enclosed in the letter, will be the " Department Head/Chair Survey " or the " Instructor Survey-Part I ". The department head will receive a copy of the original approved UGE proposal for each of the selected courses.

Early March

Due: The Department Head Survey and Instructor-I Survey are to be completed and returned to the APR office (226 Anderson Hall).

Non-compliance will negatively impact the review of your UGE course.

Early/Mid April

A letter from the Office of Assessment is mailed to each Instructor, containing the " Instructor Survey-Part II " and class packet(s) of " Student Surveys "; both have their own return envelope. The Student Survey Packet contains instructions, student scantron surveys, and a return self-address envelope. Instructors are given four weeks to administer the surveys to their students and to have these surveys sent to the APR office.

In the second (or part II) survey, instructors will be asked to respond to questions concerning which UGE components he/she actually emphasize, use, or implement during the current semester.

Beginning of May

Due: Completed " Instructor Survey-Part II " and Student Surveys are to be returned to the APR Office.
Non-compliance will negatively impact the review of your UGE course.

Beginning of May

Due: Completed " Instructor Survey-Part II " and Student Surveys are to be returned to the Office of Assessment.
Non-compliance will negatively impact the review of your UGE course.

Early/Mid May

The Office of Assessment compiles the data generated from the four survey formats (Department, Instructor [Parts I & II], and Student) into class specific reports.

End of Semester

All reports are sent to the UGE Council for review. A copy of the report is mailed to the Instructor and Department Head/Chair. The UGE Council makes a final decision regarding the approval status for each UGE course. Within two weeks after the Council has met, the Council Chair will send each Instructor (of the reviewed course) a letter regarding the outcome of the review process.
