Information on Survey Administration, Sample, and Response Rate

  • The Senior Survey is designed to give undergraduate students the opportunity to reflect upon their K-State experiences. This information is used to improve the college experience for future students by identifying strengths in our programs as well as areas that need further development.  The survey includes issues relating to satisfaction with K-State regarding academic programs, intellectual and personal growth, student services, and preparation for a career or a graduate/professional school.

  • The survey is offered electronically (through AXIO Survey) to seniors who have been cleared for graduation by their respective colleges.
  • During the 2007 - 2008 academic year, the Office of Assessment offered the Senior Survey to 3,039 graduating seniors, in which 2,200 seniors took part in the survey. The university response rate for fall graduates was 71% (733 out of 1,036 participated in the survey), and 73% (1,467 out of 2,003 participated in the survey) for spring, for an overall response rate of 72% for the 2007 - 2008 academic year.
  • During the 2008 - 2009 academic year, the Office of Assessment offered the Senior Survey to 2,881 graduating seniors, in which 2,115 seniors took part in the survey. The university response rate for fall graduates was 66% (719 out of 1,084 participated in the survey), and 78% (1,396 out of 1,797 participated in the survey) for spring, for an overall response rate of 73% for the 2008 - 2009 academic year.
  • The Fall 2007 Senior Survey did not include "Military" or "Starting or Raising a Family" response categories for the question relating to future plans of Bachelor's Degree Recipients for the Voluntary System of Accountability's (VSA) College Portrait. We added these categories based on the VSA template for the Spring 2008 Senior Survey. Responses from the 2008 - 2009 Senior Survey have been updated on K-State's College Portrait .
