Kansas State University invites applications and nominations for appointment to the position of Interim Director of Assessment for FY09 only. This position will carry at least a 50% administrative assignment. The current Director of Assessment will be on a special assignment as a Senior Fellow to the Higher Learning Commission during FY09 and will return to her position as Director of Assessment in August 2009. Therefore, this position will be filled on a temporary basis only from August 2008 until August 2009, but it is an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain central administrative leadership experience.
The person appointed to this interim position will be responsible for leading on-campus initiatives related to the assessment of student learning, working with faculty members, departments, colleges, and student support units to improve student learning, coordinating activities in the Office of Assessment, collaborating on projects with the Office of Planning and Analysis, and assisting the Office of the Provost with special projects. This position reports to the Associate Provost, Dr. Ruth Dyer.
Qualified candidates will have: (1) detailed knowledge of and experience in the assessment of student learning, (2) the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously; (3) interpersonal skills that facilitate effective interactions and collaborations with faculty, administrators, staff, and students; (4) excellent oral and written communication skills; (5) budgetary management experience, (6) a commitment to the furtherance of diversity; and (7) a Ph.D. or a terminal degree and be tenured at the rank of Associate Professor or higher in an academic department.
