Mission Statement

The mission of the Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology is to provide instruction, research, service and continuing education in the epidemiology, diagnosis, pathogenesis, prevention and control of infectious, parasitic, metabolic, and inherited diseases of animals and humans.

The scope of the Department is essential to the education of veterinarians; the education and training of graduate students for careers in teaching, research and service; the fulfillment of the college's mission to conduct basic and applied research necessary for the diagnosis and control of animal and human diseases; and the college's ability to provide high quality and efficient diagnostic services to livestock producers, animal owners, public health officials, and veterinarians.
