Undergraduate program in Printmaking
Students earning a BFA with a concentration in Printmaking have opportunities to create images through a variety of printmaking processes. Students explore printing in varied colors, in different sequences of plates or blocks, on varied types of papers or other materials as well as uses of several printmaking techniques together.
Development of personal expression, understanding of art historical and contemporary contexts for printmaking and safe uses of materials are emphasized. Introductory courses focus on relief, monotype, and intaglio printmaking. Additional instruction at advanced levels includes uses of photopolymer plates, collographs, polyester plate lithography, mixed printmaking processes as well as advanced work in traditional relief and intaglio printmaking. Recent visiting artists in Printmaking have presented studio demonstrations of woodcuts, color intaglio prints, monoprints, and polyester plate lithographs.
