Visiting Artist & Designer Activities (cont)

Distinguished Visiting Artist
Melissa Miller, this year's Distinguished Visiting Artist in painting, was hosted by the Art Department for 2 days in November, culminating in a public lecture at the Beach Museum. During her visit, Melissa also met individually with graduate students in painting and drawing to critgue their work, spoke to undergraduate classes, and exchanged ideas with faculty. Ms. Milles is a 3-time National Endowment for the Arts recipient and has work in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the National Museum of Women in the Arts. She is currently on the painting faculty at the University of Texas in Austin.

Ed Smith - Visiting Artist in Printmaking & Drawing

Ed Smith, visiting artist, joined faculty and students for a week of critiques, gallery talks, and drawing and printmaking workshops on February 14-18. Ed's new series of drawings entitled, "Life on the Lam", was shown in Chapman Gallery during his visit. Ed is a recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and Ford Fellowship. He teaches at the New York Studio School and has had many one-person exhibitions including: katharina Rich Perlow Gallery, NY; Fine Points Gallery, NY; and many more.
