Mark A. Chapman Gallery Opens with Grad Exhibition
An Exhibition of work by K-State graduate students was
the 1st event in the newly-renovated Mark A. Chapman
Gallery in Willard Hall.
"The former Willard Hall Art Department Gallery has
been renovated and is now a state-of-the-art exhibition space
due to the generosity of Mark and Cheryl Chapman,"
comments Duane Noblett, art department head.
"The new exhibition space includes an impressive
hallway entrance, an epoxy floor, and movable panels.
Previously inadequate heating, ventilation, and air
conditioning systems have been replaced with modern units.
The exhibition space, which was previously limited by windows,
has been expanded to over 1,400 square feet, with 400
square feet dedicated to exhibition preparation."
Mark Chapman is a native of Clay Center, Kansas. He
graduated from K-State in 1965 with a dual bachelor's
degree in history and political science. While in college
he lettered in football, track and softball, and was a
member of Army ROTC and Acacia fraternity. He has become
keenly interested in art, and in addition to providing
the funds to renovate the existing art department gallery,
he supports K-State scholarships in fine arts, history,
and political science. Cheryl Chapman is a retired
registered nurse.
