Art Department Faculty Retirement

Professor Margaretta Kren was recognized this past year for her
distinguished service to Kansas State University. Her retirement
followed a fruitful 32-year career. Having earned the rank of full
professor in 1995, Kren dedicated herself to both research and
teaching. She was awarded the Kansas State University
Distinguished Graduate Faculty Member Award in 1989. Her
presence in the department will be greatly missed and we wish her
the best.

Notable Generosity...

Chapman Award: Beginning fall of 2003, due to the generosity of the Mark Chapman family, 3 seniors in studio art received awards;
following, during the spring semester of 2004, 3 more art students
in studio areas were also awarded. The Chapman Award has been
established as an annual award. We thank the Chapman family for
their generous support of the studio art students.

Hugo Award: Available through the generosity of the Cornelius and
Corina Hugo family in honor of the memory of their son, Charles.
This award began in the fall of 2003 via the Annual Undergraduate
Portfolio Review Scholarship and designated for a student in the
Visual Communications area. Thanks go out to the Hugo family for
their generosity.

Red Star Studios Award: This award, established in 2003 for a
student in ceramics, is offered due to the generosity of Steven Hill,
