ARTIST'S STATEMENT
The process I use is relatively simple. After printing the negatives on black and white matte enlarging paper, color is applied using a variety of colored pencils. My use of color is not dictated by what was seen but rather what is best in an expressive and compositional sense. I don't try to match reality but rather to create an image that is a visible manifestation of the tall grass prairie with its richness, energy, and complexity of life forms held in a balance of natural forces.
