Artifacts of everyday life from different cultural contexts are given extraordinary meaning in my work. The materials express subtle tactile qualities of human history and make profane objects take on a sense of the sacred. Nostalgic sentiments emanate from handkerchiefs, and Asian calligraphy as the material becomes precious links with those who have handled them. I am sensitive to the formal organization of the imagery. The balance of color, lines and surace pattern are important concerns in the execution of the work. All the elements must express harmony and rest in equilibrium.
