The Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art is pleased
to host the 2002 Department of Art Faculty Exhibition.
This exhibition, held every wo years, provides the opportunity
for the faculty to share their current work with University
students, faculty, and staff as well as the general
community. The quality of the work on exhibit and the
concepts presented clearly show the caliber of the fine
arts program. Students learn from teaching, from practice,
from an exchange of ideas, from debate, and they also
learn from seeing what their instructors create. I would
like to thank the Department of Art faculty for their
contribution to the exhibition and their assistance
in organizing it. In particular I would like to thank
Duane Noblett, Head, Department of Art for his interest
and enthusiasm in organizing this biennial exhibition.

The
Art Faculty Biennial Exhibition is a collaboration between
the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art and visual
artists working in a constructive academic and research
environment. An excellent museum staff provide focus
and structure to the diversity of ongoing faculty creative
research. The breadth of individual faclty interests
nd a vigorous investigation of art materials and process
instruct and nourish the cultural lives of students,
the University and surrounding community. This important
public mission is further advanced by a beatifully designed
portfolio of reproduced faculty art work. Its publication
was made possible through the necessary generosity of
the Kansas State University Fine Arts Council of the
Student Government Association, Commerce Bank of Manhattan,
and the William T Kemper Foundation in Kansas City.
