"Stillscape
II"
1997,
40 x 32, Watercolor
ARTIST'S
STATEMENT
My
vision employs a two-dimensional surface and I strive
to create depth through color placement. One brush stroke
stimulates the next gesture. I respect and enjoy the
fluid nature, the give and take, and the freshness of
the watercolor medium.
The images range from abstraction to reminiscent forms.
I attempt to balance expressive energy and effective
composition by contrasting areas of soft and quiet marks.I
believe that my work is approachable and suggestive.
Most observers find a connection with landscape rhythms.
"Stillscape II" is the second in a series
of large works depicting a still-life within a landscape
setting.
