ARTIST STATEMENT

I compose and create images that communicate my relationship with the world around me. The effect that language has upon others is just as important as the affect of what one sees; in that both convey an experience and an understanding of our environment. The work functions in multiple ways. It questions the shift that language, seem primarily though created images, undergoes when removed from its original environment. On another level there is an exploration of the image as a tool of visual language, and a signifier of a particular culture while there is also a search for photography’s role in its relationship to other traditional artistic mediums.
