CAR letters are sent out the 1st week of each semester!
If you believe you are eligible and don't receive a
letter, contact the Advisor or the Art Office. it is your responsibility to apply
for CAR.
Concentration Admission Review
CAR Dates: First week of October & March
Submit:
A copy of your transcript from the registrar's office, 118 Anderson.
Visual Comm. students must submit a written statement. Details are included in your application packet.
Select one piece from each of the 8 core classes you have completed and are currently enrolled in. An additional four pieces from any of these courses that support your choice of major may also be selected. Work not completed for a class may not be included.
Your work must be hung by 9 a.m. on the first day of
your review. Do not mat or mount or frame any work unless
it is already presented this way. Photograph 3-D artwork
from 3 angels and display the photos to protect the
safely of the piece. If you are presenting 3-D work
that may be hung, feel free to use the boards. Any work
left hanging the next morning will be stacked on the
floor in my office.
**Students must have a minimum of 2.75 in these courses to apply:**
8 CORE CLASSES (Art History is NOT included)

100: 2-D Design
Art
200: 3-D Design
Art
190: Drawing I
Art 210: Drawing 2
Art
225: Figure Drawing
And
three courses from the following: One must a 3-D studio
class:
2-D studio options:
Art 201: Visual Comm. Fdtn.
Art 220: Watermedia I
Art 235: Printmaking I
Art 245: Oil Painting I
Art 295: Photography in Art
3-D studio option:
Art 230: Sculpture I
Art 265: Ceramics I
Art 270: Metals and Jewelry
Students cannot take any upper level courses that lead
to a concentration without undergoing CAR. They undergo
CAR while they are taking the last 1, 2, or 3 courses
that are listed above.
Remember, the CAR is the main determining factor
in your being accepted as a true Art major.
*Be
sure that your GPA for your core courses as well as
your overall KSU GPA is written in your information
packet given to Sara.
*If you are not accepted this semester, you will not
be allowed to take any upper level courses that are
part of any concentration. Also, you must undergo CAR
for your 2nd attempt next semester..
