Spencer Dane Lawson was born in little community west of Tulsa Oklahoma called Berryhill in February of 1984. He attended the local public school of the area where he decided to become an art after being inspired by his high school art teacher. With the encouragement of his family he attended Oklahoma State University. Spencer decided to settle down in the jewelry metals program taught by Chris Ramsey. His love for nature and forging techniques lead him into create flatware “bowl, cup, or pitchers” and silverware.

These pieces create a marriage of natural plant life and with the functionality of everyday eating utensils and jewelry. Spencer has also created vessels that use overlapping patterns and mess to create contrasting layers of colors and shapes. The vessels create an idea of discovery as the viewer is able to see through the first layer of the vessel to the inner working will the vessel retains its functionality. Spencer graduated from OSU in May of 2007 with a BFA in studio arts.
