Machiko Yamazaki was born in 1979 and grew up in a small town in Nagano,  Japan. As a child, she liked drawing and music.  After graduating from a high school, she went to a two year college for a degree in business. In 2000, she came to the U.S. to explore a new environment.

In 2004, she earned Bachelor of Art with an emphasis on Ceramics from Baker University in Baldwin , KS. She has been in several regional and international exhibitions, including Kansas City Artists Coalition and International Orton Cone Box Show and received scholarship, Orton Cone Box Show Award– Anderson Ranch Art Center, CO.

Currently, she is a second year MFA student in Ceramics at the Kansas State University.
