All About Us
A long time ago in a state far, far away (Easton, Pennsylvania)... A boy scout (Frank Reed Horton) was at college (Lafayette University) and wanted to create a fraternity based on the Boy Scout Oath and morals which would center around service, so he got some friends and started what is now Alpha Phi Omega and 75 or so years later Alpha Phi Omega (APO) is the single most representative undergraduate intercollegiate organization in America. (That was a long sentence.)
You might be wondering how APO differs from a social fraternity. Well, the main differences are: we have girls, no fraternity house, and APO is about 1/20th the price to join. For the most part we more closely resemble a service organization than a fraternity.
Basically if you're thinking fraternities are like the ones in Animal House or Revenge Of The Nerds you have the wrong impression. If you're worried about hazing or having to perform service for members, there's no need to worry. We have very strict rules about not hazing. Besides, we love our pledges. We wouldn't be mean to you! If you have any questions that our website does not answer for you, you can e-mail us at aphio@ksu.edu.
