Miss Black and Gold 2006

Our 8th Annual Miss Black and Gold Pageant was held on Saturday, December 2, 2006. By all accounts this was the largest crowd ever assembled.  The K-State Student Union Forum Hall hosted over 600 family members, friends, students, faculty, staff, and visitors as 12 young women competed for the title of Miss Black and Gold 2006-2007.  We, the Kappa Tau Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc would like to take this moment to thank each of the young ladies who participated in this year's pageant. It was truly a pleasure working with each of you. You are ALL QUEENS!!!! It is is our sincere desire that you continue to let the beautiful light that is inside of each of you SHINE for all of the world to see!!!

The crowd was excited to be there and couldn't wait to get the show started!

Neither could the ladies who were waiting patiently backstage ready to make their entrance!!

After a welcome from our Chapter President Abdul Yahaya, a soul-stirring rendition of the Black National Anthem by Rebecca Smith, and the entrance of the evenings emcees Bro Paris Rossiter and Miss Jackie Cooper....

...Our "Centennial Women" took the stage!!

Shakera Hickman (left) and Jasmine Smith were definitely feeling the love from the crowd!
