We, the Kappa Tau Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc would like to take this moment to thank each of the young ladies who participated in our 5th Annual MISS BLACK AND GOLD PAGEANT!! It was truly a pleasure working with each of you. You are ALL QUEENS!!!! It is is our sincere desire that you continue to let the beautiful light that is inside of each of you SHINE for all of the world to see!!!

We would also like to take this moment to give our heartfelt thanks to the pageant coordinator, Bro Adam Jordan Thomas. You did an EXCELLENT Job, Brother, and you are appreicated!! An EXTRA SPECIAL thank you goes out to the LOVELY and TALENTED MISS MARGARET TURNER, Director of the Upward Bound Program here at Kansas State University, and Pageant Co-Coordinator for the past 5 YEARS!!!!! This pageant would not have been possible without both of your hard work and dedication. For that, we are eternally grateful!!!

Brother Kedric Elmore takes a moment to pose with Miss Fatou Mbye, who was one of our MVP's of the night!! Fatou held down the ticket booth AND conducted the score tally at the end of each section of the pageant!! You were INVALUABLE!! THANK YOU!!

Speaking of ticket sales, these ladies waited at the door early to ensure good seats for the pageant!! I told them they would be on the internet!! Thanks for your support!!

The ladies did an excellent job at giving the crowd a foretaste of their grace, beauty, and talent during the opening number

To The Youths Who March Onward and Upward, Towards the Light, The Evening Was Respectfully Dedicated!!

After the opening number was performed the ladies competed in the areas of Career Wear & Personal Introduction, Swimwear, Talent, Formalwear, and Question and Answer. We are still looking for photos from all of these catagories so PARENTS, FRIENDS, FAMILY, if you have photos that turned out well from the night of pageant and would like to see them on the website feel free to drop us an email so we can get them uploaded!!

Fatou kept a close tally on the Ladies' scores by checking and double checking after each category!!

Finally, the last of the tallying was done and it was TIME TO ANNOUNCE THE WINNERS!!

After taking her first walk as Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Tau Chapter's, Miss Black and Gold, Talia was greeted by a host of friends and family. However, the ceremony was not over yet....

Following the pageant, the Kappa Tau Brothers circled around Talia and serenaded her with the Fraternity Hymn

Once again we wish to send a heartfelt THANK YOU to each of the Ladies above who participated in our 5th Annual Miss Black and Gold Pageant "Nefertiti's GOLD"!! Each young woman who had the courage to stand up and proclaim their beauty, talent, and intellect to a crowd of friends, family, faculty, and complete strangers is TRULY a queen in our eyes!! You are appreciated!!


We would also like to thank all of the members of the "Divine 9" NPHC family who came out to support the pageant!! All who attended are not pictured above, but at this time we would like to thank Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Gamma Rho, Phi Beta Sigma, Kappa Alpha Psi, and Omega Psi Phi for coming out and attending!! You all know how stressful it can be to plan and execute multicultural events here on KSU campus!! We thank you for your support!!

We would also like to send a HUGE "Thank You" to Bro. Thomas and his sister (Jordan's Aunt) for traveling all the way from FLORIDA to witness the fruits of Bro. Jordans labor, a very successful pageant!!
Last, but not least, we would like to thank all those who attended as well as our M.C.'s for the evening, Mr. and Miss Kansas State Univeristy Black Student Union, Bro. Paris Rossiter and the lovely Miss Nikki Adams!! You did a stellar job!!
